#111 – Is Leadership Really Lonely at the Top?

Leadership can be rewarding, exciting, and thrilling, but it can also be lonely at the top. This week, Hallie and I discussed why so many mergers and consolidations are happening, and why this is a good thing for leaders who are ready to expand and obtain a blueprint from those that have done it before. We discuss why leadership can feel lonely, how transparency can be the first step out of shame and empowering your team, and how to tell if a merger or partnership may make sense to you.

Hallie also shares how Chiefs of Staff and Executive Assistants can also learn the process of their leaders better to help get them off that leadership iceberg. Learn more about strategic partnerships and leading together here.

In this episode, you will learn about:

  • Leaders can have a lot of responsibility and it can feel like a burden when there is so much at stake with just one person making the big decisions.
  • Leadership can feel lonely to people who are ready to grow but they want others to help push them along and give them a blueprint and models.
  • Why releasing your financials may seem like the last thing you want to do, but it may be the first step to transparency and out of loneliness.

[15:35] Financial success can create complexity in your business and personal life. It’s nice to have someone or a group around you that understands.

[19:41] You can start to test the waters of sharing more, and asking for feedback on how your team feels they are being led. The first step is being aware that being lonely is a syndrome.

[20:01] Great leaders ask themselves how they can create candid conversations and a space where if they succeed, others do as well.

[22:29] Hallie shares how Chiefs of Staff and EAs can ask the right questions to understand their leader more in the future and to be informed of the process in their decision-making.
