Whether you are being chased by a bear or worried about the workday ahead, fear and stress can leak into your life and drain you of energy, preventing you from fully living in the present moment. But there’s a better way: you can learn how to leverage fear in a way that works for you and drives you to succeed. This week, Hallie and I tackle the difference between psychological fear vs. primal fear, and how the two have a profoundly different impact on your life. We also talk about how you are the executive producer of your life, and you get to decide how to direct it.

[:57] First, what exactly is fear?
[6:31] Yes, primal fear can lead to a sweet grandmother having the strength to pick up an entire car.
[7:37] How is primal fear different from psychological fear?
[9:01] When fear shows up, it’s because you’re afraid that you’re going to get something you don’t want, or you’re not going to get what you do want.
[10:33] The first thing you can do is observe the process of fear and see how you are building your own movie.
[11:32] Psychological fear is the feeling that someone or something dangerous is going to cause you a threat or pain.
[19:31] We describe the duality and often the disturbance that comes from living in the inner world we’ve created and the outer world that we are trying to manipulate based on what we are thinking.
[23:03] You are the sum of your own experiences, you are the one watching them.
[35:59] Watch your mind and be aware of the fear starting to show up for you.
[38:08] Just stay in your process, and just watch the mind do its dance.
