#044 – Want a Successful Business & Fulfilling Life? Follow a Model

Do you follow a business model? How about a fitness and health model? A spiritual model? Or are you just winging it and being entrepreneurial in all areas of your life?

Before you answer, I want you to know there’s no judgment here. It’s a question designed to get you to think about where you are going. Some of the most successful businesses (and people!) have been created by following other people’s models and making them their own. Why? because success leaves clues, and a good model is like hitting a jackpot of clues.

You don’t want to be healthy for a day or wealthy for a day. You want to put models in your life that can be sustainable for your entire life. And even though most people see the value in following models, many fail to implement them effectively. Here’s what I typically see with business owners and our Conscious Coaching clients…

1) People think models are boring, so they naturally resist them. Hey, I get it… the ego loves to be unique 🙂

2) People love planning on using a model (we’ve all seen people’s calendars that have 17 different colors!) but when it comes to actually executing on the model day in and day, that’s where they get hung up.

So that’s why I wanted to explore the topic of models with you on this week’s podcast episode. If you want to explode through ceilings in your life with purpose and clarity, finding a model that is right for you is key, and one of the most important secrets to our success.

In this episode, we break down what exactly makes up a good model, how to find one according to your personal goals and desires, and how to know if it’s working or when it’s time to pivot. Listen, models aren’t sexy but they are repeatable and scalable, which is exactly why they work.

[0:41] If there is something that you want and you aren’t getting it… then you need a model.

[1:12] To us, a model is a way to get repeatable results in an area of life where you really want to see a result.

[3:22] For us, the model of leading through people and building leaders up aligned with ours.

[5:08] There is a myriad of different models you can follow, and it can be overwhelming to know which model to pick, and how long to stick with it. That is why it is important to be self-aware and really get clear on the professional and personal elements of the person you are choosing to model. Do they work 24/7, or do they promote a life full of rest and relaxation? Nothing is good or bad, it is just which model works best for you.

[18:54] Success, discipline, and consistency aren’t always fun and exciting. If you let go of wanting to make every moment creative, you embrace the fact that what matters is repeatable results.

[19:49] The right model for you will be one you can implement every day. If a model can’t be fit onto one page, then it can be very hard to follow.

[32:17] You aren’t changing everything in your world, you are getting even deeper in what is important in your life.

[32:51] At different seasons and changes in your life, you will focus on different models such as health, finance, leadership, etc.

[35:18] You don’t need a model for every part of your life. You need a model for a place where you want repeatable results.
