In this world where we put a high value on accomplishment and achievement, it’s easy to allow years to go by before we really look at if what we are doing is aligned with our highest ideals. This week, Caitlin joins me to discuss how we can create an inner scorecard that gets us out of our minds and into living an authentic and purposeful life. We give personal examples of the ideals that are most important to us and how we use our scorecards. It’s never too late to bring in more awareness on your actions, so listen for a few practical tips on how to start to match your inner scorecard and outer accomplishments.
In this episode, you will learn about:
- How to find the words that resonate with you on a deep level so you can define your inner scorecard.
- Some easy ways to provide clarity for yourself so you can live your authentic life.
- The cost of just living in the “doing world” without checking in with your inner scorecard.

[1:01] Many people have discord between their inner scorecard of what’s important and the outer world of doing. It’s not necessarily what you do, it’s the part of you that you are doing it from.
[2:21] Life can pass us by quickly, and it’s important to consistently check in with yourself to make sure what you are doing lines up with the things that matter most to you.
[2:51] Caitlin gives her essence words: open, loving, and trusting. Take a moment and write down a couple of the words that mean the most to you, and those are now your measurements for an inner score-card that you can reference back to.
[4:00] You miss the mark when you go after your goal but neglect your inner scorecard and the things that mean the most to you spiritually.
[6:10] In a world full of doing and outer accomplishments, it’s easy to get caught up on just focusing on what’s next rather than taking time to see if it even lines up with your highest purpose.
[7:12] When you are clear on your inner scorecard, you are less willing to sell out on things that don’t match up.
[11:57] The first level of clarity is just awareness of what you are doing in your outer life, and if it comes from your true essence or just your mind.
[16:25] There is an energy and balance between getting out of your minds and just being, and using your mind for analytical direction.
[20:34] People see the world based on their preferences, fears, and desires. Once you clear these desires and preferences, the inner voice will lift the veil so you see the world with more freedom and clarity.
[25:23] Don’t spend all your time in the “doing world”; that is not going to help you really get to know yourself on a deeper level.
[29:05] It is never too late to get in line with your inner scorecard.
[33:26] Journaling for a few minutes each day puts you in a reflective position and gives you an awareness of how you interact.
