In this first session of our four-part series, we dive into what bringing consciousness to work really means. Click here to get access to bonus materials for each week of the series.
When you live in the moment, with conscious awareness of yourself and your energy, you become better at everything you do. You actually can become a fierce business competitor, because you become egoless and fearless. But the ultimate gift you’re going to get from having more consciousness at work and in your life is you’re going to suffer less.
Consciousness comes more naturally for most when engaged in activities like sitting in nature, meditating, or doing yoga. But there is so much value in bringing that mindset to work, especially during a busy day or when things aren’t going your way. This week, we first get clear on what consciousness is, what we define as work, and how work can be a conduit for spiritual growth. We give some real-life examples of what it looks like to bring your consciousness and awareness into your workday and share with you our exciting plan for what’s to come in the next three parts of the series.
In this episode, you will learn about:
- What we mean by being conscious, and the first steps to becoming conscious.
- Why it’s beneficial to use work as a conduit for spiritual growth.
- Examples both big and small of what it looks like to bring your consciousness to work, accept reality, and learn to process emotions and desires in a healthy way.

[3:01] We define that by work, we mean any job and salary. In this four-part series, we will be focusing on a multitude of lessons, but this first one will be how we can use our consciousness at work, why it’s important, and each of our own experiences of how business taught us lessons in spirituality.
[4:34] Our consciousness is our awareness of our mind, thoughts, environment, sensation, etc. It’s knowing that we are the world. Consciousness is unique and subjective to the individual or being experiencing it.
[11:37] Whether you are awake or not awake, consciousness is always there. It is a pristine Buddha-like nature, and even when we feel unconscious, we are conscious.
[12:02] When people are conscious at work, it means they are more aware of their awareness, and more likely to stay grounded and productive rather than getting swept away with every emotion. They will still experience these emotions but will let them flow through them more quickly.
[12:07] Why is it important to us that people are conscious at work? It will remove and minimize suffering. In business, most of the day does not go your way so being conscious can help someone stay in the moment rather than ruminate about the past or stress about what’s to come in the future.
[19:46] Whether you believe in consciousness or not is irrelevant to us. Our goal is to point this information out to you so hopefully, it brings you more awareness.
[20:57] Even conscious people get frustrated. This is where the “sacred pause” comes in, where you feel the emotion but allow the disturbing energy to flow through so you can respond with clarity.
[23:19] Eckhart Tolle: drinking wine is not an escape, it’s a conscious choice. Spirituality doesn’t have to look like abstaining from certain things like coffee or a glass of wine. It means you are choosing these things and playing in the present moment instead of feeling like you need them to be whole.
[27:34] Mindfulness and visualization get you to concentrate your mind vs. having it controlling you. When you first can direct your mind, you can then become conscious and aware of what your mind is doing.
[30:00] Work is a place that people go to try and make themselves better, whether that’s with a purpose, money, a title, etc.
[38:28] Hallie discusses how her covering for the Executive Assistant role the past few weeks has taken her focus away from her Chief of Staff duties. This left her feeling uninspired. We discuss if that is truly coming from an external force, or how she can turn it into a learning experience by accepting the situation and taking inspired action to make it better.
[47:27] When you are operating from consciousness, you match life with life.
[51:02] Most people use work to satisfy their needs, but the problem is that it’s never-ending
[54:51] When you accept reality and surrender to what is happening, your astral body can heal and process. The more we resist reality, the more stress we feel.
