Our first Project|U retreat for our 2021 session was in June, and we dove right into deep spiritual conversations. One of the topics that got brought up was the fact that personal growth or making changes in your life can be very painful, but the alternative is the pain that comes from staying in mediocrity and not taking action on your biggest goals. You need to choose your hard — growth or inertia. This week, we talk about why change can hurt, and how to reduce the pain of personal growth through inner work. We discuss how to be more present during times of change so there is less resistance, and offer a few practical steps for how to recognize you need to make a change and move towards a more conscious lifestyle.
In this episode, you will learn about:
- Life gives you a set of cards, and you decide how you want to play them.
- The intention behind what you are doing (or what you decide not to do) says it all.

[8:37] It is your choice, you can either have pain from staying complacent or have growing pains from working on yourself. Is it less hard when you do the inner work? Yes, because you are present and in less resistance.
[10:45] Professional athletes can’t imagine life without eating healthy and exercising, because they know that is what it takes. It’s a means to the end they want, and that it is what is required to thrive.
[12:15] Being enlightened doesn’t mean you get to control the situation exactly how you want it. It means you accept life on life’s terms, while still taking inspired action.
[14:02] If you want to choose your hard to resist and fight life, it will be even harder.
[18:02] If you have a calling and aren’t sure if it’s coming from an egoic place or a conscious place, go and experience it. Sometimes, that is the only way to know.
[25:40] What drives me? Evolving. Business is one conduit in which we can work on ourselves.
[27:50] We are here to contribute, but sometimes our minds can play tricks on us by telling us that we are right or wrong.
[35:10] How can we tell the difference if we are going through the motions? It’s the intention behind what you are doing. When we live small and choose not to make big moves or speak up, we are also letting others down from being inspired and helped by our actions.
[36:23] When you make time for self-inquiry and discovering your inner truth, the drive of life puts you on the right path.
