Are you reading this right now because it’s part of your destiny, or is it a choice you made using free will? This week, Hallie and I do some exploration on the existence of free will. We don’t quite come up with a finite answer, but rather peel back the layers behind the question. As deeper inspiration comes from consciousness and we have a more connected experience with our inner world, it’s fun to explore whether we truly act a certain way of our own accord, or if our entire life is already predetermined in some way — from the small decisions to the big life-changing ones.

[2:37] Do we really have free will? First, Hallie and I must define what free will actually is.
[4:52] Samskaras are stored energy patterns that become so ingrained that they literally get into our DNA and affect our choices and relationships.
[6:44] Many times, we act out from an egoic level. That’s the definition of being unconscious.
[9:00] You have the choice to engage in the mind and the egoic behavior, but you also first must be aware and conscious.
[12:03] Or, do we have free will within a framework that’s already been decided?
[16:36] Every behavior or every action that you’ve taken has been triggered by something, whether it’s an emotion, thought, etc.
[30:07] 99% of people are walking around listening to a voice in their head that is talking based on their emotions, with an illusion that they have free will.
[31:32] As you do self-inquiry, keep peeling back these layers and something becomes clearer.
[34:42] Free will is a moment-to-moment thing.
