#164 – The Voice, The Heart, Emotions, and You

In this solo episode, I jump into a concept that came up at our recent Project U retreat — what are our emotions, where do they come from, and why are they there? Furthermore, why does the world feel so difficult right now and how can we feel our emotions in a way that they flow through us rather than getting stuck? I discuss what happens when emotion triggers the mind, and how each event has a vibrational pattern to it. And, it wouldn’t be a BMS episode without some fun facts and unique analogies! I also discuss why Eckhart Tolle drinks Starbucks, and how stored up feelings can feel (and smell) like a skunk in our emotional refrigerator.

[1:25] The very first trigger is an event that unfolds outside. It can be giant and newsworthy, or something small like someone just saying something that makes you feel a certain way.

[5:42] How do you stay centered when emotions overtake you? Remember, you are the one that is actually experiencing all of this.

[9:08] What happens when the emotion comes in and triggers the mind?

[11:41] Every event has a vibrational pattern to it.

[15:40] Surrender is such a big word in personal growth because you actually have to relax and release it to have it actually move through you.

[16:08] Real freedom can be very painful.

[17:49] Our past experiences can be like a skunk in our fridge. Trust me, you’ll need to hear the elaboration on this one.

[22:40] The only reason we store these things is that we don’t want to handle the feeling.

[24:40] The takeaway? These three things happen: the event comes in, and then all of a sudden you’ve got the mind kicking in with audio and visual components to it. Then, the emotions come in and blow over like the wind blowing on you.

[24:49] Remember that you are the one experiencing the emotions and if you keep holding on to the event, you aren’t allowing it to pass through you.

[29:15] There is no “spiritual community” that you are either in or not. Everyone is spiritual, stop making it special.
