BONUS — Consciousness at Work for Real Estate Agents

Today’s bonus episode is taken from one of our weekly company calls for our Livian leadership team. During our call, I discussed what it means to bring consciousness to work, which is especially important in today’s market. We talk about how to use work as a way to liberate yourself, and how aligning your focus with purposeful work that serves both yourself and others can bring satisfaction to your life and work, and why you need to start every day with the mindset of using your work to work on yourself.

[0:48] What does “consciousness at work” mean?

[4:15] Bringing consciousness to work helps us create clarity and focus to the things that matter.

[6:14] Being conscious doesn’t mean you don’t feel anger, frustration, or other lower-level emotions – it just means you don’t respond from them.

[7:52] Business is nothing but a conduit for your personal growth. When you don’t feel like lead generating that morning, acknowledge that feeling and move on. You create a new habit by continuing on with the task at hand and your mind stops bothering you about it because it knows you’re going to do it anyway.

[10:01] Surrendering does not mean passivity – it means the opposite. It means taking action.

[11:02] Don’t use work as a way to feel good inside or feel validated or powerful. The moment something goes wrong, you will feel bad again. Work is an opportunity for you to raise each moment and liberate yourself instead of distracting or trapping yourself. You become a fierce competitor by not working from need.

[15:10] My mantra before work every day is “I’m here to contribute and give, not get.”

[16:35] Go even deeper than “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life”. Show up as your best self in every moment and you will feel joy in everything you do.

[18:15] Where does excitement or satisfaction from work come from and where does it go? Eventually, the excitement of a new job or new level of income wears off because once we have it, we feel like we need the next best thing. The Law of Diminishing Returns states that the more you get of something, the less you want it. You need to be your own source of energy and inspiration.

[20:14] True inspiration at work comes from within you. Everyone has problems to solve. Do you want to approach those things from a place of anger and frustration? Or from a place of joy and contribution?

[22:14] Your starting position should always be to use every part of work to work on yourself.
