#165 – Why You Need Perseverance Now More Than Ever

We are experiencing a very interesting time right now between inflation, and the government and banks leading the way to slow down spending. Right now, leaders need to step up and lead the way by eliminating distractions for their team and knowing that even if times are challenging, these things come and go in cycles and that nothing lasts forever. This week, Hallie and I define what perseverance is, how to bring more of it into your personal and professional life, and even how to enjoy life through the tough times, while still embracing reality.

[1:15] What’s going on right now in the world of real estate?

[8:45] In this next level of leadership, it’s really going to be about perseverance.

[10:28] Perseverance is taking more effort and more time to get the results, despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.

[11:58] The first thing leaders need to do is to get real with the situation and acknowledge that we need to be slowing our spending and that times may get a little tougher for a while.

[12:04] When you are leading somebody, you’re doing so to spark a level of action in the right direction.

[17:47] When times get challenging, you need to start thinking about what you can eliminate. This doesn’t have to mean people, per se, but distractions, and noticing where the inefficiencies are. It’s all about simplifying processes, and that may also mean consistently taking a 5‒7% budget decrease each year.

[21:57] Great leaders have the vision and perseverance to see it through and know it’s not forever.

[24:36] Don’t put yourself in a situation where you’re putting pressure on your business to support your lifestyle.

[28:40] If we have to go through this, you might as well accept it and embrace it. Accept the reality that you’re here at this point, and more clarity will be able to flow through.
